This is a permanent position that provides leadership across skilled and experienced Three Waters Engineers.
The opportunity
As the Manager Engineering Services, you will lead teams of engineers and technical specialists who provide the critical analysis, problem-solving, and concept design that underpin Wellington Water’s investment and operational decisions. You will ensure engineering inputs are robust, evidence-based, and aligned with organisational goals for reliable, efficient, and affordable three-waters services. This includes overseeing investigations into complex network and asset issues, guiding the development of practical solutions, and ensuring concept designs meet standards, are technically sound, and smoothly integrate into the capital delivery pipeline.
This will include:
- Leading a priority driven engineering work programme that supports capital projects, continual network efficiency and reliability.
- Driving Technical innovation, and ensure solutions are evidence based and fit for purpose.
- Building a culture of growth and development for technical engineering experts.
- Reviewing advice from Expert Water Engineers, researched analysis and engineering methodologies to influence investment strategies.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- A relevant engineering degree (Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental) and preferably Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility.
- 8–10 years’ experience in water, wastewater, or utilities engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong technical capability in asset performance, problem analysis, concept design, and feasibility assessments.
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, and suppliers to deliver quality, value-for-money outcomes.
- Clear, confident communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for Senior Stakeholders.
- Good financial management, with the ability to initiate and lead meaningful and complex work programmes.
