The opportunity
As the Manager Investment Planning & Performance, you’ll lead the team responsible for developing and monitoring Wellington Water’s long-term investment plans and ensure they align with regional priorities and the long-term water service plan for our region. Your work will ensure our investment decisions are clear, affordable, and aligned with the needs of our customers, councils, and future asset owners.
You’ll enjoy working across the organisation—connecting strategy, planning, operations, and finance—to turn strategic priorities into actionable, fundable programmes of work.
Day to day, you will:
- Lead, support, and grow a multidisciplinary investment planning and performance team.
- Develop clear, evidence-based opex and capex investment plans.
- Turn strategic priorities into measurable, fundable programmes.
- Produce timely performance reporting across financial, service, and risk outcomes.
- Lead high-quality business cases using consistent evaluation frameworks.
- Work closely with asset planning, engineering and operations to ensure plans are practical and deliverable.
- Engage stakeholders and apply risk frameworks to support confident decision-making.
- Champion continuous improvement in planning tools, processes, and capability.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- A relevant tertiary qualification relevant to investment, financial planning and performance.
- Experience in investment planning within a utility asset or local government adjacent environment.
- Proven leadership experience building capability and supporting team success.
- Strong analytical, financial reporting and commercial skills, with experience preparing multifaceted business cases.
- Confidence engaging with a range of stakeholders and navigating complex environments.
- At least 10 years’ experience turning strategy into actionable, prioritised investment programmes.
- A collaborative style and a commitment to positive outcomes for our communities.
