Senior Wastewater Operations and Assets Advisor

This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week
The remuneration range for this role is $106,892 to $150,906 p.a. depending on skills and experience
The opportunity
Providing expert technical and operational advice, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the effective and sustainable operation of Wellington region's wastewater network, ultimately focused on delivering high-performing wastewater services. You'll also ensure asset performance, maintenance, and renewal strategies are aligned with customer, environmental, and regulatory expectations.
Alongside this through close collaboration with internal teams and the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Services Contractor, Veolia, you'll support the continuous improvement, operational excellence, and informed future focused investment in the region’s wastewater infrastructure.
The role will see you:
- Oversee performance, process, and capacity of the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plants
- Provide robust advice on the technical delivery processes
- Identify and instigate process and plant investigations to support activities
- Guide the development and maintenance of risk management plans
- Ensure a collaborative partnership with Veolia operators and managers
- Lead and report on asset management planning to ensure that a workable Asset Management Plan and capital programme is delivered
- Monitor and ensure compliance with plant consent conditions
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- An engineering degree (Chemical, Process or Environmental) & full driver's licence
- Experience supervising and reporting on operations and maintenance of water or wastewater treatment infrastructure
- Sound understanding of wastewater treatment processes
- Background in health & safety, quality, and environmental management systems
- Strong commercial and relationship management skills
- Ability to facilitate collaboration across multiple teams
- Capability to work effectively under pressure and to manage changing priorities and ambiguity in a calm manner
