Wastewater Operations and Assets Advisor
You'll serve as a liaison between Veolia and Wellington Water’s operations, communications, asset planning and capital delivery teams to ensure critical functions are properly coordinated and aligned.

This is a full time position of 40 hours per week
The remuneration range for this role is $83,096 to $117,312 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience
The opportunity
In this role, you will serve as a key liaison between the Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Services Contractor (Veolia) and Wellington Water’s operations, communications, asset planning, and capital delivery teams to ensure all critical functions are properly coordinated and aligned.
Additionally, by leveraging your strong relationship-building skills and working collaboratively with Wellington Water and Veolia, you will drive continuous improvement, ensuring wastewater treatment activities deliver safe water and environmental excellence to our communities, while meeting the expectations of our client councils and regulatory authorities.
You will:
- Respond to day-to-day concerns on treatment plants and escalate any
activity that could impact the Contract service levels - Ensure treatment plant performance is monitored and optimised
- Maintain strong relationships across Wellington Water and Veolia
- Oversee general compliance of plants
- Coordinate minor spend projects and support the capital renewal programme
- Support internal and external performance reporting
- Champion a strong health and safety culture
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Diploma (Wastewater, Chemical, Process, Environmental, Asset Management) or equivalent on job learning
- Full Drivers licence
- 2+ years’ experience supervising and reporting on operations and maintenance of water treatment infrastructure
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of asset maintenance and management principles
- Strong commercial and relationship-building skills
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with the capacity to manage changing priorities and ambiguity
