Team Leader Water Loss Management

This is a full-time position with a remuneration range midpoint of $125,755 (including KiwiSaver), starting remuneration will depend on skills and experience.
The opportunity
As the Water Loss Lead, you will oversee a small team that proactively investigate, identify, and resolve water loss within our network in the wider Wellington region. This will require you to provide and create performance and progress reporting that will identify opportunities for improvement and new initiatives that improve water retention in our network, and address engineering and maintenance challenges. Additionally you will:
- Develop and implement annual leakage control programs for the water network and advise/schedule on required interventions.
- Drive water loss levels down through managing, monitoring, and delivering programs on District Meter Areas to ensure the right interventions are delivered.
- Ensure prioritisation frameworks and initiatives are in place to improve the speed and quality of our leak repairs. By ensuring they are implemented, and our delivery teams work is appropriately scheduled, resourced, and audited to meet this outcome.
- Develop strategies for customer leaks on private property, rural restrictor checks and hydrant takes through to delivery.
- Track and report water loss data to track our programmes, and provide insights to support our problem-solving through investigations and interventions, to ensure we are meeting business strategic outcomes and statutory measures.
- Ensure work is delivered within allocated budgets & provide monthly forecasting.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- An Engineering qualification or relative comparable qualification relating to Water and a Full NZ class 1 license.
- Experience leading and mentoring others.
- Extensive technical and practical experience in public non-revenue water loss management (revenue is also beneficial).
- Strong communication and ability to influence operational change.
- High degree of computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office, along with experience in using technologies such as Maximo, SAP or similar asset management systems is desirable.
