What is a Serviceperson?
Our Serviceperson roles at Wellington Water are responsible for planned and responsive repair and maintenance works. Our crew members are a mix of experienced and new to career individuals within the civil industry that have a primary focus on water infrastructure.
No matter where you are in your career, as a Serviceperson you are supported for further development towards trade qualifications, tickets and licensing which enable you to progress through remuneration grades.
We offer support and time to enable you to achieve your qualification and training goals in an on the job learning environment.
Our Teams

Water
Our Water teams are responsible for maintaining the water reticulation system to ensure there is a continual supply of quality water with minimal interruptions.
As part of our water team you will manage and maintain a range of water services, including:
- The install and repair of water pipes and mains
- Relocation of existing water connections,
- Installation of new water tobies and meters
- Minor infrastructure upgrades

Drainage
Our Drainage teams are responsible for maintaining both wastewater and stormwater networks to ensure a continual high-performing service.
As part of our drainage team you will manage and maintain a range of drainage services, including:
- Drainage investigations
- Setting and repairing manhole covers
- Installing, unblocking and repair of drainage pipes and mains
- Relocation of existing drainage connections
- Installation and maintenance of valves and pipes.

Reinstatements
Our Reinstatements team undertake the reinstatement of roads, footpaths, berms and other land following the completion of water infrastructure works. This includes basic concreting, asphalting and topsoil jobs, as well as setting up simple traffic management sites. The team compelte work across the entire Wellington region, so if you're looking for a different worksite each day - this is the team for you!
