The remuneration range for this role is $86,230 to $121,737 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience
The opportunity
Join the asset planning team in a learning focused role supporting the planning and management of water network assets. You’ll contribute to safe, sustainable water services by assisting with Network Management Plans, managing risks, and prioritising forward works, while working collaboratively across planning, operations, and delivery teams to strengthen long-term network resilience and meet regulatory and service standards.
You will get to:
Develop and maintain Network Management Plans
Identify and prioritise capital and renewal projects
Analyse overall network performance
Apply risk-based planning and performance analytics to optimise asset lifecycle decisions
Collaborate with operations, delivery teams, iwi, community groups, and regulators
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
2–5 years in water infrastructure planning or asset management
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering
Familiarity with hydraulic modelling, GIS, and asset databases
Strong report writing and stakeholder engagement skills
Self-motivated and desire for personal continuous learning

Wellington Water Ltd is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We’re a multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities. From 1 July 2026, a new chapter in water services begins. Tiaki Wai will take over responsibility for providing Three Waters Services to approximately 433,000 residents across the Wellington metro regions.
Tiaki Wai will own the water assets it operates giving it greater independence to manage and improve water services for current and future communities, Wellington Water employees will transition into this new council-owned entity.
