This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week
The remuneration range for this role is $74,325 to $104,929 (including KiwiSaver), depending on skills and experience.
The Opportunity
Play a critical, hands-on role in reducing the loss of our wai (water) across the region. You’ll focus on effectively bundling and scheduling jobs to ensure efficient coverage and timely delivery of repairs.
This role requires proactive action — ensuring leak information is identified, recorded, and planned for resolution, while adhering to relevant legislation, bylaws, policies, and procedures.
You’ll help prioritise urgent leaks, ensuring we address the largest and most critical issues first.
Key responsibilities
Operate leak detection, pressure monitoring, and pipe location equipment to investigate and accurately identify leaks
Sample water leaks as required to determine source and confirm seepage into the network
Carry out on-site investigations of customer-reported leaks and enquiries, ensuring accurate work order setup for delivery teams
Bundle and programme jobs effectively to support regional coverage and prioritisation
Escalate and de-escalate triaged leaks to ensure appropriate resourcing and response timeframes
Oversee contractors supporting investigations and carry out audits to ensure accuracy and quality of repairs
Audit delivery crews to ensure repair quality standards are met
Engage and support customers while investigations and resolutions are underway
Support the Water Loss team in allocating work to the right resources in line with the prioritisation framework
Implement Level 1 traffic management or engage approved specialist contractors for more complex requirements
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
A relevant approved technical or trade qualification, Level 4 Reticulation or Level 5 Infrastructure Works qualification, or relevant Civil diploma/degree
Thorough knowledge of water reticulation maintenance and construction standards and practices
Experience in water infrastructure repairs and investigations
Full New Zealand driver’s licence
Strong written and verbal communication skills
