This is a full-time, permanent position based in Petone
The opportunity
You will be an integral part of the Communications and Engagement Team at Wellington Water, providing leadership, management, and support for three direct reports. You’ll enjoy working in a fast-paced and delivery-focused environment and be part of a diverse and high-performing team. Your duties will include being on an Emergency Management on call roster.
You will get to
- Oversee the development and implementation of region-wide social marketing and behavior change campaigns
- Oversee the management of our external channels and ensure these are well managed and used effectively to maintain public engagement with Wellington Water and our work
- Support the development and implementation of new processes and frameworks as well as work to maintain existing ones to ensure the wider Communications and Engagement function is well supported
- Recruit, coach, mentor and develop staff, and manage their day-to-day work and provide oversight to ensure the right outcomes and the needs of the business are met.
- Lead the development and implementation of communication and engagement strategies for a range of programmes of work
- Support the team to identify key reputational risks and provide strategic communications advice and support to mitigate these
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key journalists and media to support proactive and reactive media engagement.
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team to deliver high quality outcomes
- A tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, or another relevant field
- 9+ years’ experience in providing strategic marketing communications and engagement planning and delivery
- High quality writing and editing skills and experience in translating complex information into simple and clear communications
- Experience in strategic communications channels management
- Strong experience with delivering effective large-scale marketing and communications campaigns to meet organisational outcomes
