The opportunity
As one of our Drainage Servicepeople, it will be your role to work within a team to assist with the day-to-day operation of our drainage networks to ensure there is a continual drainage service that has minimal interruptions.
In this role, you will have varied and busy days as you maintain public open watercourses, clear blockages, repair broken and damaged pipelines, install new saddle and manhole connections, construct and adjust manholes and pipelines, inspect and provide routine maintenance of problem areas within the system as well as undertaking civil defence and emergency management tasks and build and establish effective working relationships.
You will also learn to be capable and competent to work on both wastewater and stormwater networks ensuring that a high level of service is delivered to our customers. You’ll have the opportunity to expand your knowledge in the drainage reticulation industry and receive training and development throughout your career.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a full drivers licence
- Be enthusiastic and willing to complete relevant qualifications
- Have experience in working on a range of basic repairs across the drainage network
- Be confident to assist effectively on more complex jobs with a more experienced serviceperson
- Be excellent at following directions
- Have a great work ethic – be hard working, honest, reliable and ethical
- Be a team player
- Have good verbal communication skills

About the team
The Service Delivery team is the first point of contact on the ground responding to client and customer requests. The team activities cover both reactive and planned maintenance works. The present arrangement is local functionality with water and drainage teams in each depot to respond infrastructure failures within the geographical boundaries. Regional functions such as CCTV ; Reinstatements; Utilities and Bulk Pipelines and housed at specific depots but have responsibility across the region.
