Are you the internal communications engagement specialist that Wellington Water needs? Do you know the value of good relationships and partner with people from across a business on multiple projects? Do you offer a unique take on how communication is used to shape culture and bring people together? Then read on!

People work at Wellington Water because they want to make a difference. That means you will be helping to look after our most precious assets: water, human health and welfare, and the environment so our communities can prosper.

Wellington Water knows that a great values-driven culture like ours means we can be a trusted adviser to councils and deliver fantastic outcomes. We also know that communications play a big part in this– and we’re in search of our next champion to support employee engagement.

This role is much more than devising and implementing communications plans, writing newsletters, managing the intranet and other communication channels – with flair.  You will have a knack for encouraging open communication and feedback within the organisation. You’ll understand how communications influence culture and behaviours and develop communications strategies and tactics to support the organisation we are and want to be. You will be able to effectively coach managers and advise others in the business how to shape their communications to be effective.  In addition, you will work directly with the (very approachable) Chief Executive and members of the senior leadership team, attending their meetings, understanding the issues and providing insightful advice on culture, communication and engagement in the business.

Perhaps you are already in an internal communications role and keen to step up into a sole-charge internal communications role. Or perhaps you are a generalist communications or engagement person who would like to specialise in internal communications and work in an organisation that “gets” the value of internal communications and walks the talk. You may have some human resources in your repertoire of skills. You are likely to have a heart versus head approach to your communications if that makes sense.

This role is a crucial member of our People & Capability team and is based in beautiful Petone. You’ll work in a company where you’re supported to do your best and grow your career in a friendly, fun and team-focused environment.
